The Institute of Physics is a leading scientific society. We are a charitable organisation with a worldwide membership of more than 45,000, working together to advance physics education, research and application.
We engage with policymakers and the general public to develop awareness and understanding of the value of physics and, through IOP Publishing, we are world leaders in professional scientific communications.
The Ogden Trust promotes the teaching and learning of physics throughout the UK's educational system with the aim of increasing the number studying the subject at university and training to teach it.
It provides scholarships for students at sixth-form and undergraduate level, and sponsors undergraduates and postgraduates who wish to become physics teachers with internships and training grants. The Trust also funds projects supporting physical science teaching at primary and secondary level through a number of school and university partnerships and co-funds university posts in physics outreach.
